My knowledge of anatomy

Okay, so my current problem is I think I know some what about drawing people using anatomy to help, and I have always wanted to try it, but I have always dismissed it in my head thinking, "Oh, pfft, I don't need this. I can draw perfectly well without it." Yeah, that's a lie that I used as an excuse for not doing it since I was too lazy. Now I have been trying to learn more on it and I know basic female and male anatomy which would help me porportion (sorry I don't know how to spell it), but I still feel like I only learned some rough details and that I don't have like a concrete knowledge on it.
